Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection
Jizo Cats is an innovative marriage of the protective Japanese jizo statues and the lucky cats of Japan – coming straight from the creative mind of long-time Japan resident, artist, and marketer Kevin Riley. In the Kanji Collection, each individually drawn NFT image illustrates the meaning of a kanji character or set of characters.
Bring the luck and protection of Jizo Cats into your life.

Questions?
Here are some of the questions people ask. Don’t see your question? Come ask it via the Contact Jizo Cats page.
What are Jizo Cats?
Jizo Cats are a product of the creative mind of the artist Kevin Riley, bringing together the jizo statues you can find offering protection all across the Japanese landscape and the cats that bring luck in Japan. Each Jizo Cat NFT is an image that illustrates the meaning of a particular Japanese kanji character. See this video to learn more about Jizo Cats and their significance.
What are NFTs? Why are they valuable? How can I invest in NFTs?
To get started with NFTs, and successfully invest in this great new innovation, please take advantage of the NFT beginner’s course I have created for you.
What’s so special about the Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection?
Each Jizo Cats NFT captures the spirit of it individual kanji character(s) and gives a peek into the culture of Japan. If you like Japan, you’ll love the Jizo Cats.
On top of the artwork, each Jizo Cats NFT comes with a number of other benefits:
- A TIFF file, so you can get a high-quality print made of your Jizo Cats NFT and proudly display it on your wall.
- Full commercial rights to use your Jizo Cats NFT to create and sell your own merchandise. See the License Agreement.
- Unlike a generative NFT art project, each Jizo Cats NFT is individually hand drawn, so you get 100% originality and rarity with each NFT.
- After the 300 Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFTs are all minted, each holder of one of the NFTs will receive a limited-edition, full-colour, hardcover coffee table book. Only 301 will ever be printed, so this is a true collector’s item.
- For the first 25 to redeem it, your Jizo Cats NFT is your ticket to a free all-day tour of the real Osaka for you and your family. With long-time resident Kevin Riley as your guide, you’ll discover the hidden places that tourists rarely see, and you’ll be his lunch guest at the best okonomiyaki restaurant in all of Osaka. Each NFT holder also gets a unique chance to make your wish come true.
How many Jizo Cat: Kanji Collection NFTs are there?
There will only ever be 300 NFTs in this collection. Each one is a fully original and unique image, coming from the creative mind of Kevin Riley. When you mint a Jizo Cats NFT, you get a truly valuable rarity.
When will the Jizo Cats be available for minting?
The first 100 Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFTs will be released for minting on Open Sea in June 2022. The next 100 will be released in August 2022, and the final 100 will be ready for minting in October 2022. Exact release dates will be announced directly to all Jizo Mail members (Note: Jizo Mail is a free membership – click here to subscribe and get early notifications).
Where can I mint my Jizo Cats?
Jizo Cats will be released for minting on the most popular and easy-to-use NFT marketplace – Open Sea.
Are some Jizo Cats rarer than others?
Since Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFTs are all hand-drawn from scratch, with no shared properties, each Jizo Cats NFT is 100% unique. However, some kanji and their illustrations may be more popular, and therefore more valuable, than others.
Can I resell my Jizo Cats NFT?
Yes, of course you can resell your NFT on marketplaces such as Open Sea. In fact, I’ll show you how to list your NFT for sale in my free NFT beginner’s course (go grab your access now).
Long-term marketing campaigns will be employed by Jizo Cats, under the supervision of experienced online marketer Kevin Riley, to increase the value of your Jizo Cats NFT and give you a healthy ROI.
Is there a royalty fee on secondary sales?
For any Jizo Cats resold, an automatic 5% royalty fee is paid to Jizo Cats – a portion of which goes to supporting education in under-serviced areas of the world.
Can I use my Jizo Cats NFT to create and sell merchandise, or for other commercial purposes?
Yes, you can. When you own a Jizo Cats NFT, you own the IP rights to the image and can use it for personal and commercial purposes. For full details, see the Jizo Cats License Agreement.
Do Jizo Cats NFT holders get priority access to future collections?
Yes. In November 2022, the next project (Jizo Cats: Kotowaza) will begin, and everyone holding a Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFT will get early notification and priority access to that unique collection. Get your free membership to Jizo Mail to get early notification.
How do I reserve my free tour of Osaka?
Inside your unlockable content, you’ll find your ticket and instructions for reserving your tour. For more information, please read the Jizo Cats Experiences Terms of Use.
How long is the Osaka tour ticket included with each Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFT valid?
There is no time limit for redeeming your free tour of Osaka with Kevin Riley. However, there are only 25 free tours, and the first 25 NFT holders to redeem their ticket will receive a free tour. The ticket included in your Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFT is valid for one tour for you and your family, until all of the 25 free tours have been claimed. Once a ticket from an individual NFT has been redeemed for a tour, the same NFT cannot be used to obtain a second tour. Please read the Jizo Cats Experience Terms of Use.
However, if you can’t redeem for a tour, there is a consolation option – make your wish come true with a Japanese ema.
How many redemptions does each Jizo Cats NFT have?
For each Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFT that you hold, you can redeem the ticket for an Osaka tour one time – while tours are still available (free Osaka tours are limited to the first 25 tickets redeemed by their NFT holders).
For the coffee table book, only 300 copies will ever be sent out (one per NFT). Once a voucher from an individual NFT has been redeemed, it cannot be used again.
Note: Both the tour ticket and the coffee table book voucher can be redeemed by the whoever holds the NFT at the time (original minter or future owner).
For more information, please read the Jizo Cats Experiences Terms of Use.
How do I receive my coffee table book?
Included in your unlockable content is a voucher for your copy of the limited-edition coffee table book. The voucher comes with simple instructions for contacting Jizo Cats and providing your mailing address.
Note: The coffee table book will be available for distribution after all 300 Jizo Cats: Kanji Collection NFTs have been minted, but there is no time limit for ordering delivery of your book. You can either redeem your voucher or, in the event you are going to resell your NFT, you can choose to leave it unredeemed for the next owner.
